Prosecutor to recommend 15 years prison for one convict

Two illegal immigrants have been convicted of felonies for allegedly distributing cocaine out of a Sheboygan apartment, the district attorney said today.



The most severe charges are for 50-year-old Juan Ocampo-Sotelo, formerly of 1420-A New York Ave. District Attorney Joe DeCecco will recommend as part of a plea agreement that Ocampo-Sotelo spend up to 15 years in prison.


He pleaded guilty last week to felony counts of cocaine and marijuana delivery. Dismissed as part of the deal were a lesser cocaine delivery count and a count of felony theft tied to possession of an allegedly stolen handgun, DeCecco said.


Ocampo-Sotelo is scheduled for sentencing Oct. 1 before Judge Timothy Van Akkeren. He will be permanently deported after serving whatever sentence is imposed.


Ocampo-Sotelo’s roommate and accomplice, Lucia Avila-Gonzalez, 39, accepted a plea agreement Tuesday and will face immediate deportation, DeCecco said. She was convicted of one count of felony aiding a felon and sentenced to time served.
