    • Cost: A one-time $25 registration fee will cover the following:

    Accommodations—Lodging for Saturday night

    Food—Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch

    • Travel: Participants must make their own travel arrangements to and from the trainings

    • Training time: Begins at 10 AM on Saturday and concludes at 6 PM on Sunday


    The trainings are designed to:

    • Teach basic organizing skills.

    • Help participants learn to tell their own stories and speak in public.

    • Train participants in the use of social media tools for outreach and organizing.

    • Provide an insider’s overview of the immigration debate.

    • Build leadership teams of five to six people in a geographic area.

    • Conduct a brief action (e.g. public event, media activity) to give participants a chance to practice newly learned skills.

    The ultimate goal of the trainings is to prepare a trained, enthusiastic leadership force to help win comprehensive and humane immigration reform in 2010!

    Sponsors: The trainings are a collaboration between the Campaign for Community Change; the Center for Community Change and the Fair Immigrant Rights Movement (FIRM); Reform Immigration for America; United We Dream; the New Organizing Institute; and other allied organizations in each of the six host states.

    A Tested Approach to Training New Leaders.

    The training approach we use was developed by Marshall Ganz, a professor at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

    Wouldn't it be funny if it were ICE doing it. I know NYPD did a sting where they got people who had outstanding warrants out to show up to pick up tickets to see the Yankees (if I recall correctly they were baseball tickets). They had alot of them show up and they were all arrested on the spot.
