Woman found dangling from U.S.-Mexico border fence near Nogales

United States Border Patrol agents found a 37-year-old Mexican woman dangling from the border fence east of Nogales on Saturday night.

The agents saw two human smugglers attempting to lower the woman into the U.S. from Mexico using a harness and hoist rope, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a press release.

When agents approached, the woman attempted to climb back over the fence into Mexico from the Arizona side of the fence, but the smugglers left her hanging, officials said.

The woman was suspended approximately 15 feet above the ground, officials said.

Border Patrol agents contacted the Nogales Fire Department, which safely lowered the woman from the fence.

The woman was not injured but was processed for immigration violations.
