Pro-immigrant rights group to hold benefit concert for ICE raid-affected families
June 16, 2007

An immigrant rights group will hold a benefit concert and festival in Denver tomorrow to benefit families affected by the ICE immigration raids.

The festival, "A Song of Life," will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Teatro Aztlan, 974 Santa Fe Drive, Denver.

The immigrant rights group, the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition, which is a coalition of 80 immigrant rights groups, is calling for an end to the raids and for the federal government to address the problem of illegal immigration through reform. The group is asking for legalization of undocumented workers, a path to citizenship for future immigrant workers and family reunification.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit families in Greeley, Pueblo and the San Luis Valley to help pay for rent, food and clothing. Performers will include Sambos Caporales Ballet Folklorico, Alex and his Rock Band, Los Hommies and local poets, artists and comedians.
