After serving his prison term, Adan Zamudio-Escalante will be deported from the U.S.

CHARLESTON -- A man from Mexico was sentenced in Federal Court in Charleston for illegally re-entering the United States.
According to information released by the U.S. Attorney's office Southern District of West Virginia, Adan Zamudio-Escalante, 32, of Mexico, was sentenced to 12 months in prison.

Zamudio-Escalante pleaded guilty in October 2009 to the federal offense.

Charleston police arrested Zamudio-Escalante in January 2009 after a traffice accident in Charleston.

Officers learned that Zamudio-Escalante had been deported on April 20, 2005, following a conviction in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.

Zamudio-Escalante admitted he had not obtained consent from the Secretary of Homeland Security to re-enter the United States.

Once Zamudio-Escalante completed his term of imprisonment, he will be administratively deported from the United States.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Services and the Charleston Police Department conducted the investigation.

Janet would give it to him retroactively if she could.
