CHARLESTON -- A man from Mexico was sentenced in Federal Court in Charleston for illegally re-entering the United States.
According to information released by the U.S. Attorney's office Southern District of West Virginia, Adan Zamudio-Escalante, 32, of Mexico, was sentenced to 12 months in prison.
Zamudio-Escalante pleaded guilty in October 2009 to the federal offense.
Charleston police arrested Zamudio-Escalante in January 2009 after a traffice accident in Charleston.
Officers learned that Zamudio-Escalante had been deported on April 20, 2005, following a conviction in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.
