    Ok, here's my weird, black helicopter, tinfoil theory: that it had something to do with all the Indian programmers we've given away American IT to.

    Here's why:

    1. Look what happened to the dollar/ruppe exchange rate at about the same time (cause/effect?): http://in.finance.yahoo.com/currency/co ... amt=1&t=5d

    The rupee has been rising against the dollar for some time and this has threatened their lucrative industry of taking work away from American tech professionals. (history so you can see:

    When they get more rupees per every dollar, that encourages job loss from us to them (i.e. makes them cheaper, able to handle tiny US dollar paychecks and turn them into a fortune back home).

    2. How they really feel about America, well a lot of them (they've been fantasizing about winning a cyber-war against us):
