SAN DIEGO -- A boatful of illegal immigrants came ashore on Monday in Del Mar for the second time in three weeks.The boat is a 20-foot Sea Ray sport-fishing vessel similar to the one that washed ashore on Nov. 7. In the past seven months, 15 similar boats have been found abandoned between Imperial Beach and Del Mar.

"When you have a number of people who are being smuggled on vessels that sometimes are barely seaworthy, concern for human life is paramount," ICE spokesman Mike Nzueta said.

According to ICE officials, using boats to sneak people into the country is nothing new, but using cheap boats and then abandoning them is becoming common.
