Well, even if the release of CO2 into the atmosphere from fossil fuels is not causing a long term rise in atmospheric greenhouse gases I still think it will help us if we get off the use of huge amounts of petroleum. An awful lot of those current petroleum profits are going into anti-American agendas.

Our automotive technology is way outdated---the basic concepts haven't chaged in years and the system behind automotive design, as it is now, makes automobiles unneccessarily expensive. Once the bugs are worked out of electric propulsion it will make everything simpler.

Besides that there are a lot of other chemicals going into the atmosphere--many producing greenhouse gases--that aren't good for us. One of them is methane---coming from livestock tummies. New Zealand produces more methane than CO2.

Oil is not a fossil fuel. It is abiotic. The earth creates more all the Time.

You raise some valid points about our dependency on oil, Captainron, but even if we stopped using the internal-combustion engine as our primary source of transportation, it wouldn't alter the agenda of the Global Greenies. Their game is essentially one of further diminishing American sovereignty, and of further empowering world government.

Sad, but true. Progressivism has taken the place of religious affiliation and the bonds formed between people of progressive affiliations may continue to direct the world in that general direction. Many of them will simply have nothing better to do than to continue to pursue activities in keeping with their "progressive" views. I guess that leaves "conservatives" with tricky choices such as: Would you rather have (1)naked hippies sitting around the hot springs (2) PETA protesters shouting in front of the leather goods and fur dealers (3) marches for gay rights (4) marches for immigrant rights or (5) any number of other causes.

But I am not so sure that conservatives can stay out of trouble, either. It was the Wall Street scandals that triggered the current plunge in the US Dollar and many religious leaders have been investigated or indicted for financial fraud, plus they have been sleeping on the job as far as stamping out local crime. And if you look at it historically, the modern "Progressive" movement is just the mainstream of American Protestant Christianity; the evangelical movement is the minority traditional reaction.
