Las Cruces, NM radio talk show News NM interviewed southern NM rancher Tom Cooper about the proposed Wilderness legislation from Senator Bingaman (D-NM) and Udall (D-NM) and the impacts of creating a new safe haven for drug smugglers along the border.

They have a long list of great videos on border security and the trash, rape trees, and criminal violence in these areas. A significant factor is the designation of federal lands with various types of legislative "protection", which makes law enforcement activities difficult due to the regulations and restrictions on activity and equipment.
