Thread: Need help Is this true for NC?

This is a letter I got from Concord NC city management:

Mayor Padgett asked that I fill in some detail for you. Under NC law, Cities are prohibited from separate actions/ordinances regarding immigration issues. Therefore, through the Concord Police Dept., we have been very supportive of Sheriff Riley's efforts to identify illegal immigrants and refer them to the proper Federal authorities for full enforcement of existing laws. Specifically we do this, just as in the other Counties you mentioned, by direct checks of the immigration status of any person presented to the Cabarrus County jail. We (Sheriff Riley with our support) actually received some federal funding to assure that the program works as intended.

that is not true. Write this guy back and ask him to cite for you the NC General statutes that back up his claims.
