PICTURE: Vicente Fox statue gets taken down.

Oh what a beautiful site! I wish I could have been there to stomp in his face. The title on the Tijuana newspaper even reads "Saddam Hussein style,
    Fox statue gets taken down".

I don't think there is. I will translate the most important details. But just Google it and you will get the same info. I just posted the link because it had the picture.

Vicente Fox denies allegations he enriched himself while president

    Ex-Mexican leader's statue felled

Opposition protesters in Mexico have torn down a bronze statue of the former president, Vicente Fox, just hours after it was erected.

They threw eggs at the monument in Boca del Rio in the state of Veracruz, before putting a rope around its neck and pulling it to the ground.

Many of the crowd were reported to be supporters of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI.

It lost power after more than 70 years when Mr Fox was elected in July 2000.

More than 100 angry protesters are reported to have attacked the statue on Saturday morning, just after it had been put up by workers.

An inauguration ceremony scheduled for Sunday has now been cancelled.

"We came to represent society because we don't want this monument here," Adolfo Mota, a PRI lawmaker in Mexico's lower house of congress, told AP news agency.

Mr Fox is facing a financial probe into allegations he enriched himself during his presidency. He denies any wrongdoing.

The fact that they roped the neck like a cattle is comedic gold. Is he still here hawking his book or has he return to the land where he is hated almost as much as here?

The PRI are scum.....they are the ones who jacked Mexico up for 70 years, before it was Fox's serve. Zedillo was PRI....he was the one who said: "I proudly affirm that the Mexican nation extends beyond the territory of its borders, and Mexican migrants an important, a very important part of it."

Calderon said basically the same thing recently. There seems no difference between PAN and the PRI from the American perspective. I was hoping that the protesters who took down the statue were oppressed working-class people who wanted real change and a middle class in Mexico. The PRI is anything but that.
Serve Bush with his letter of resignation.

    See you at the signing!!

That's the whole problem with wishing for some kind of "revolution" in Mexico. It most likely won't be one in which an educated, middle class will arise and democracy shines forth. It will most likely be some kind of corrupt, Marxist/Socialist thing. It's hard to imagine sometimes that things could be worse there, but maybe they can. We have to be careful of what we wish for.

Absolutely barbaric. It must be in their blood as they want to do the same to the Pete Wilson statue in San Diego.

They certainly did not put it up very sturdy as it came right down.
