Research Project on a Possible MS-13 Shooting on TX Police

I was posting these photos and video for William about a possible gang related incident against the Texas Police. He wanted help in trying to find out if this incident was actually done by MS-13. According to the video the shooting appeared to occur on 11/04/2004.

    Friends,

These pictures and the video are interesting in themselves, but I wanted them posted here for a research project.

Many of you are great sleuths!

These pics are being passed around by American police officers but we are not sure where they came from.

You can see in the video that two gunmen fire two automatic weapons at this officer in Texas.

Considering the Van, the automatic weapons, the attack on police, and the fact it is happening in Texas might suggest that this is a gang in the car.

Furthermore, the Crips and the Bloods are not known for their penchant for opening fire on cops with automatic weapons.

In Central America, MS-13 and the Zetas are known for this.

It may not pan out to be our illegal alien, drug, and weapon importing gangs but it should be checked.

Please see if any of you can find out the who, what, when, where of these images and let's see if we can find out if the police made any arrests. I bet they did and many of us want to know more about the assailants in the van.

Can anyone dig up any news reports or info on these for us?

Video shows bandits opened fire on police cars
02:28 AM CST on Tuesday, November 9, 2004

    By REBECCA LOPEZ / WFAA-TV

A dashcam video released by Richardson police on Monday shows bullets from high-powered rifles flying through the window of a police cruiser, as the so-called Takeover Bandits made their getaway following a bank robbery last week

Richardson officers responded Thursday morning to a call that the American First National Bank at 400 N. Greenville Ave. was being robbed. They caught up with the fleeing suspects and began a chase that took them north on Central Expressway and into Plano.

The video from one vehicle shows an officer attempting to follow the suspects' getaway car on to the highway when the suspect vehicle suddenly veers back onto the service road and unleashes a storm of bullets, shattering the rear window of their car and piercing the front of the police cruiser.

Another dashcam view from several minutes later in the chase shows the suspects, who by now had abandoned their first vehicle and stolen another, slamming into a pole at the intersection of Jupiter and Summit in East Plano. The suspects jump out of the car, grab what appears to be some bags from the vehicle, and continue shooting at Richardson and Plano police officers.

Amazingly, no officers were shot; only one officer suffered minor injuries from flying glass.

One of the suspects in the robbery, 31-year-old Guadalupe Fajardo, turned himself in to authorities in the Panhandle town of Slayton, where he was apparently visiting relatives. Fajardo was transported back to North Texas Monday afternoon.

The other suspects are still at large.

I got a little time tonight to search on this story and came up with the article above which matches the video footage. If you do a Google search on takeover bandits it will yield many more articles.

Police say DNA evidence links man to getaway vehicle

10:55 AM CST on Thursday, December 2, 2004

By MATT STILES / The Dallas Morning News

A man Richardson police say is linked by DNA evidence to a brazen bank robbery and violent getaway last month faces new charges after a federal grand jury in Dallas indicted him Wednesday.

Federal prosecutors allege that Guadalupe Fajardo, 31, was one of three men who, armed with assault-style rifles, robbed a Richardson bank of $11,000 on Nov. 4.

The three – suspected members of an elusive and prolific gang known as the Takeover Bandits – got away by carjacking vehicles and spraying automatic gunfire at police across Dallas and Collin counties.

Police and the FBI are still looking for two of the robbers.

Mr. Fajardo was taken into custody in West Texas two days after the heist on state charges of attempted capital murder and aggravated robbery.

In Dallas, Mr. Fajardo faces single federal counts of bank robbery and brandishing a gun during a violent crime.

It's also likely that additional federal charges for the carjackings, which happened in a different U.S. attorney's district, could be made public soon.

Given the various jurisdictions, both state and federal authorities in Dallas and Collin counties would then have to sort out when and where Mr. Fajardo would go to trial.

"We'll sit down and talk and see who goes first," said Richardson police Detective Jonathan Wakefield.

He testified Wednesday that investigators found bodily fluid with DNA matching Mr. Fajardo's on an airbag in a carjacked pickup the robbers wrecked in Plano during the getaway.

    Federal prosecutors declined to comment.

Assistant Dallas County District Attorney Pat Kirlin said he would meet with them soon to decide how to proceed.

Detective Wakefield's testimony, which came at a pretrial hearing in Dallas, offered a glimpse of what investigators believe is a strong case.

Dressed in an orange jumpsuit and restrained by irons and a shock belt, Mr. Fajardo whispered to his attorney but didn't address the court during the short hearing. Afterward, a judge ruled that there was probable cause to bind the case over to a state grand jury.

Detective Wakefield, who has helped an FBI task force with the case, said two witnesses identified Mr. Fajardo as being involved in the melee after the Greenville Avenue robbery.

After two minutes in the bank, the masked and gloved men drove north on U.S. Highway 75. The robbers then shot at an off-duty Richardson police officer who, unaware of the robbery, followed behind.

The robbers' sport utility vehicle then continued north into Plano, and they shot at a second officer on Plano Parkway. The men carjacked a white Chevrolet pickup at Summit and Stewart avenues, moments later crashing into another vehicle.

It was then, authorities say, that Mr. Fajardo, a passenger who at some point shed his mask, made contact with the airbag.

Witnesses say they then saw him as the robbers tried to get another getaway car, Detective Wakefield said.

Police released photos of Mr. Fajardo and another man that night.

Two days later, Mr. Fajardo was arrested at a West Texas police station, where he walked in voluntarily after his girlfriend's relatives saw news reports of the incident.

Detective Wakefield testified that he noticed that Mr. Fajardo had cuts and bruises when he interviewed him in West Texas.

Mr. Fajardo first asked for a lawyer but later said that he "did the right thing" for his loved ones by turning himself in and that he was prepared to "face his medicine," Detective Wakefield testified.

Mr. Fajardo's court-appointed attorney, Paul Johnson of Dallas, asked Detective Wakefield why some of the witnesses in Plano couldn't single out his client.

"It just seems to me altogether strange that people that supposedly came into close proximity couldn't identify him" while others who were farther away could, Mr. Johnson said after the hearing, his first chance to hear about the evidence.

Meanwhile, the search continues for two other men who the FBI believes played a role in dozens of armed bank and business robberies in the Dallas area in recent years.

"We're getting close," Detective Wakefield said. He declined to elaborate.

FBI REQUESTS PUBLIC'S HELP IN "TAKEOVER BANDIT" SEARCH

(RICHARDSON/PLANO, January 24) -- The FBI is asking for the public's help to find the third member of the "takeover bandits." A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of 22-year-old Ramon Gavina. FBI agents arrested Gavina's brother, Roberto, Friday in mesquite. Authorities say the Gavina brothers and Guadalupe Fajardo were part of a November bank robbery in Richardson that included carjackings and shooting at police in Plano.

    Third 'Takeover' Bandit Suspect Arrested

    POSTED: 3:26 pm CST March 14, 2005
    UPDATED: 6:12 pm CST March 14, 2005

DALLAS -- The third member of a violent gang of bank robbers responsible for 60 armed robberies and a shootout with Richardson, Texas, police has been arrested in Mexico, police said Monday.

Ramone Gavina, 22, believed to be part of the "Takeover" Bandits, was taken into custody by Mexican authorities on a charge unrelated to the bank robberies in North Texas. Mexican police released Gavina before realizing he was wanted in the United States. Police later rearrested Gavina.

Police said Gavina (pictured, left) and the other members of the Takeover Bandits escaped Richardson police Nov. 4 during a gun battle that disabled five police cars while fleeing from a bank robbery. Gavina's brother, Roberto Gavina, was arrested earlier this year during an FBI raided an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Gus Thomasson in Dallas.

Guadaloupe Fajardo, 31, the first member of the gang to be apprehended, turned himself in to authorities at a West Texas police station in early November.

Ramone Gavina was turned over to U.S. officials, who will transport the alleged Takeover Bandit back to North Texas, NBC 5 reported.

The SECOND SUSPECT TRIED TO KILL FBI AGENTS DURING HIS ARREST

Robbery Suspect Shot Several Times Duing Arrest
Third Takeover Robbery Suspect Remains At Large

    POSTED: 1:15 am CST January 22, 2005
    UPDATED: 1:17 am CST January 22, 2005

MESQUITE, Texas -- Gunfire erupted when FBI agents tried to arrest a suspect in dozens of takeover robberies that plagued north Texas.

FBI agents went to an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Gus Thomasson to arrest Roberto Gavina. While attempting to flee, Gavina allegedly tried to run over several agents with his car.

Agents opened fire, and Gavina was wounded.

The arrest warrant was for carjacking, but agents said they also wanted Gavina for something else.

"Mr. Gavina is a takeover robber, responsible for the Nov. 4 chase were police were fired upon," said Lori Bailey, spokesperson for the FBI.

The chase started after a bank heist in Richardson and ended in a shootout between the bandits and police from Richardson and Plano.

A few days later, 31-year-old Guadaloupe Fajardo was taken into custody. He is one of three men accused of participating in that robbery. Gavina is also accused in the crime. Agents are also looking for Gavina's brother, Ramon Gavina.

"The takeover bandits are considered to be responsible for numerous robberies in the metroplex," Bailey said. "We feel confident at this time that Ramon Gavina is the second that we're searching for."

Gavina was shot multiple times and taken to Baylor Medical Center. Officials said he would likely be released Friday and taken to the Grayson County Jail.

Agents said Gavina's brother could still be in the area, and he should be considered armed and dangerous

    Come on!

I have seen this exact posting on the internet.
I want you to look carefully.

    The video is from 2004
The photos are from a routine traffic stop in 2005

In the video you can see the front black push bumper on the patrol car. However, you do not see them in the pictures. It is because they do not go together. They are two entirely different incidents. Gotta love the internet.

    Tim,

Thank you. I do see the push bar in the video. Can those be removed?

Regardless of if these pictures are the same car from the video, what I want to know is if the crooks that opened up on an American officer with two automatic rifles were us citizen bank robbers or part of these paramilitary gangs that are spreading rapidly in America.

The still shots serve no real benefit to this consideration.

This is just a work in progress and I have not had much time to spend with it yet. Just some preliminary work.
