    It makes the "do gooders" feel important and like they are doing something for the needy.

    Their efforts are really misplaced. I'm a charitable person but I don't assist criminals and people that have intentionally placed themselves in foolish situations. Some people just have to go to the school of hard knocks and face the consequences of their bad judgment. Can't save people from themselves.

    Actually, the best thing that can be done for them is advise them to leave before they end up in the deportation system.
