The Shaw family and supporters went to the LA Council on Tuesday morning, to talk about the necessity of amending LA's Proposition 40.

By the way, this is the same Ed Reyes, who in 2005 introduced an ordinance that would require all new home improvement stores, including Home Depots, to provide funding for the creation and operation of day laborer sites on their property.

I swear, the absurdity and ignorance of politicians anymore is embarassing!!! The family of Jamil Shaw want gang members checked for legal status, and this putz says "The Economy is not ready for this." Excuse me Mr Reyes, but in case you havent noticed GANG MEMBERS ARE NOT CONTRIBUTING TO THE ECONOMY!!! UNLESS YOU CONSIDER DRUGS, THEFT, PROSTITUITON, A CONTRIBUTION!!

How disgusting is it that these Latino "Leaders" want to expand the rights and privelages of their own community even if it means turning a blind eye to criminal activity within that community.

This is completely sick. The LA City council is a bunch of disgusting worthless losers if they don't repeal Special Order 40.

It broke my heart to listen to Jamiel's family, pleading for one simple act by the City Council which will never bring their son back but prevent needless, senseless tragedy for other families. To hear Reyes' response to these people was appalling. His words, the lack of any emotion and/or compassion in his eyes, is chilling.

The unwillingness to so much as consider rescinding that order..... even to the limited degree of ridding the community of heinous, cold blooded gang members anyone in their right mind would want gone.... reeks of something far more sinister going on that Reyes, Villar, and the others of their ilk do not want exposed. To aid and abet illegal aliens and participate in the reconquista movement should not have to, I would think, include gang members.
