In final but unofficial reports, the ban was approved by a vote of 68 percent to 32 percent.

Councilman Tim O'Hare, the ordinance's lead proponent, says it sends Congress a message: that if they don't do something about illegal immigration, cities will.

Opponents plan to seek a restraining order to stop the city from enforcing it and try to get the case to trial.

Can we say landslide? Why is it that people wish to oppose what the majority of the CITIZENS/LEGAL RESIDENTS want all across America. If I were somewhere I wasnot wanted I would leave, but then I've got dignity and common sense.

I wonder if the Mayor has changed his tune since this landslide victory. I find it ironic that it was the opponents that forced this election. This should silence the critics.

NOT much is being done about our thousands of illegal aliens in town. Our mayor supports the illegal alien driving certificate bill coming up for vote. We've been sued by illegal aliens and their supporters a handful of time...

So on behalf of Waukegan, thank you for, I think, starting something that will spread across the country.


Note: We have a number of slum landlords that are probably watching this with apprehension....
