Honorable members of the NC General Assembly:

I represent the organization, Americans for Legal Immigration PAC or ALIPAC, found on the web at www.alipac.us

While we are a national organization and a leader in the fight against illegal immigration in America, I live in Raleigh and North Carolina is where I was born and raised.

Many of you are familiar with my prior service to the General Assembly and campaigns.

ALIPAC is credited with having played a key roll in the defeat of HB 1183 in 2005. This bill, also known as the In-State Tuition for Illegal Aliens bill, went down in flames after a huge backlash from the public. It was later proven that over 80% of NC's likely voters rejected this legislation.

In 2006, we played a key part in the passage of four historic new laws in North Carolina that crack down on illegal immigration by bringing more license security, screening all new state employees for legal presence, cracking down on human smugglers, and empowering local police to enforce immigration law.

As our NC lawmakers come to realize that over 80% of their constituents want a crackdown on illegal immigration, at the state and local level, then more laws are possible in the 2007 Session.

We are asking our lawmakers to consider legislation that accomplishes the following.

1. NC needs to pass a law similar to the comprehensive enforcement bill of Georgia known as the "Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act"

2. Reject any legislation that provides more benefits, welfare, or taxpayer services to illegal aliens.

3. Secure our voter registration to stop more illegal aliens from registering to vote.

4. Provide funding grants for local law enforcement agencies that want to train officers to enforce immigration laws.

5. Cut off state taxpayer benefits and welfare for illegal aliens except for immunizations and emergency medical care.

6. Add language to our DMV operations to require certification of "Legal Presence" for recipients of driver licenses.


The public attitudes show a strong majority of NC Citizens support these measures.
