Tom Tancredo is on now with Rick Sanchez. Rep. Tancredo is telling a story about a woman in a store that could not find an item. She kept looking for someone who could speak English to help her. She found a black woman who took her directly to the item she was searching to find. The black woman said I always knew something would bring us together, who knew it would be our language.

A nice story about the two women, but a sad, sad statement on what is going on here in so many communities.

"Going cradle to grave without speaking English" here in America.

Bi-lingual nation would cause a safety and economic issue.
If we become a bi-lingual nation that is what will divide us. It will cause separatism. English only will bring us together. Most of us speak English and those adults do not have the time to learn English. Most of my neighbor and friends all speak English and at my age I should not have to learn English. Every where I go for services, English is spoken.

Bi-lingual nation would cause a safety issue and an economic issue. The cost of putting signs on the roads and text books would have to be in English. English speaking schools could not communicate with Spanish speaking schools.

Can ou imagine being on the freeway and trying to find your language?
That would cause a lot of accidents. That is a safety problem.

I thought, to become a citizen, being able to speak English was a requirement.
Why are there people that have been here for years and cannot speak Englih?

This is actually a dumb poll to me. The question should read "Should English be the official language of the US?" This would simply mean that all gov't business and related literature are in English only. This would not preclude organizations like LULAC from translating the information to those who don't read and/or understand English well. If not, then we should represent EVERY language spoken here. I don't see why this is so hard for our gov't to understand, unless they WANT division among ethnic lines that leads to civil war in the streets of America. You have to know that some of the best minds have done research on what happens when you have multiple languages and cultures competing for limited resources, so why are we supporting our own demise?
