Does U.S bear some fault in propping up Mexican drug trade

Does the U.S., with its demand for narcotics and supply of guns, bear some fault in propping up Mexican drug trade, as the president of Mexico suggested to Congress Thursday?

    The Liberals

The Liberals keep telling us that drug abuse is some disorder or disease or some lame excuse. Lets treat it by cutting off the patient from the cause...
Build the huge wall between the U S and Mexico and it will solve not just our problems of drugs and illegal aliens, but their problem of guns going south..

    BUILD THE WALL!

Yea right. Of course it has to be the fault of the US. Mexico is never at fault for anything. All their cops are on the payrolls of the cartels, thats what the probie is. And they accuse us of having a drug addiction problem here...how many of the drug addicted are illegals? Or legals from Mexico? I dont remember there being such a huge drug problem 20 years ago. And that is about the time we started getting flooded with so many illegals. Many of the legal Mexicans were illegal till they got amnestied. I think we are importing a drug addiction problem.

It's being shipped in illegally from Mexico and sold on our streets. The guns are being stolen or sometimes purchased legally in the US.

How many of these illegal shipments do you believe are being conducted by Americans in English? I would love to know how many of the drug mules and gun runners who have been caught received Amnesty in the past.

Most of the weapons used by cartels are fully automatic and illegal to own here anyway. Wonder where they are getting fully automatic weapons from?

Cartels have tons of money. It would not surprise me one bit if they set up their own factory and manufacture the guns themselves.

The wars being carried out by the drug cartels need American customers who provide the cash for the drug dealers. Sort of like a new project or a new industry locating in your town it provides the underlying financial base. I know the meth trade started partly from military vets who had picked up drug usage, partly from biker gang types (who also might have been vets) and partly from blue collar kids who were looking for a visceral high. Then you've got a mixture of people supporting the cocaine trade, low class people using heroin, and then pot smokers.

Calderon may be right that the guns are mainly coming from the US: after all, Calderon is a conservative and relatively friendly to the US. There are too many gun nuts, who are also greedy, who would sell to anyone. It's terrible and shameful.

This is a complex problem. We need to stop the flow of illegal immigration whereby drug dealers find a safe refuge. We need to get Americans off the drugs so the demand will go away. We need to do what we can to help Mexico keep the weapons out of the hands of drug cartel criminals. Just saying it is their problem isn't fair, when it is American users, in this case, who have fueled the demand.
