power_excell If every single vehicle on the road requires saftey belts, then why not buses? Also maybe to improve the saftey of our children not only should seatbelt be required, but maybe install side airbags. I believe all vehicles on the road should have all the same required safety features.

thinkfirst Maybe you should ask bus drivers with 20 to 30 years of experience weather or not some of the wonderful ideas make sense or not.

Grandma.... The real problem here lies in the fact that this was a person who had NO right to be in our country....If the States/Govt would have been doing their job...this would not have happened...She already got a prior ticket....WHY was she NOT deported then...and these poor children would be alive now...

Seat belts and seats with higher backs would help alot.
Everyone is required by law, at least in my state, to wear a seat belt. Seat belts on school buses carrying children should also be required by law.

I admit I'm no bus expert, nor do I know much about the statistics when it comes to school bus accidents. I would think some very knowledgeable folks have been consulted and done the math, so it seems the question has been answered before. To me the real story is the fact the driver of the van is a confirmed criminal illegal alien -given the fact she is lying about her true name and age. I'm no expert so I can't say seatbelts would've saved those 4 kids, but I can say with complete confidence if THIS illegal alien wasn't in our country, SHE wouldn't have killed those kids on that day. To me it's no surprise that a person who doesn't respect immigration laws would violate traffic laws...
