I have a hard time with this one. Any criminal or possible criminal should be asked but a witness it would depend on the scenario. It is very hard to get witnesses to come forward in many crimes especially if they are illegal. Ask dectectives who work homicide, robbery, or sex crimes and they will tell you the same. Many times a violent crime would go unsolved without a witness and the criminal could repeat the crime they committed. In those cases they should not ask but in others they should.

Understand your concern but as long as the ILLEGALS are enabled in remaining in the United States however well meaning by law enforcement turning a blind eye to the ILLEGALS these crimes including murder and rape against our citizens will continue. The more rapidly the ILLEGALS leave our country the better for United States Citizens.

Don't overthink it. Just vote. Hartford is trying to implement sanctuary city and shield illegal aliens.

Iccat: I don't believe in sanctuary cities as I live in one. It is hell for police officers here as they know certain people are illegal but cannot ask. The only people in the County who can is Highway Patrol and they catch lots of illegals. Many crimes are committed by illegals to illegals within their own community. You have gang members and others who extort and rob other illegals. In the Miami Dade area there are areas that have a large number of illegals who are victims or witnesses to crimes. If they are the only ones who witnessed a violent crime they should not be asked their immigration status if they are cooperating with the police and at the same time should not be given legal residency for their cooperation either. Illegal on illegal crime is still against the law. If you think it is bad in the hood because no one want to be considered a snitch try dealing with illegals when they know you can ask their immigration status.

I would question the credibility of someone who has no valid US ID. I would automatically assume that person is an illegal alien. Considering every single illegal alien is already a proven liar (using fake/stolen ID, multiple aliases, etc.) WHY in the world would anyone believe anything they say?

So my answer to this is, if you cannot produce a valid US ID, yes their immigration status should be checked.

The difference between an immigrant and an illegal alien is the equivalent of the difference between a burglar and a houseguest. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
