BLAINE - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized 134,838 ecstasy pills worth nearly $2 million from a Canadian woman's car Saturday morning, May 23.

Officers arrested 30-year-old Vancouver, B.C., resident Nguyen Loan Trinh at the Peace Arch Port of Entry for allegedly attempting to smuggle the drugs into the U.S.

Trinh claimed to be on her way to visit a sick aunt in Seattle. An inspection of her vehicle revealed that the rear seat and gas tank area of her 2008 Acura MDX had been tampered with, and officers found 60 packages of ecstasy pills weighing 84 pounds hidden in the gas tank, according to CBP.

Trinh was taken into custody and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for further investigation and prosecution.
