Usually, it is the liberals threatening to leave. No doubt, if progressive attempts to have government take over varying aspects of our life, things will be difficult, and those with money like Rush, will be asked to spread their wealth, far and wide for socialist and progressive actions, ideas which he abhors.

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Rush didn't say he would leave the country as a resident, but that he would leave the country for health care services. There is a group establishing medical services in Costa Rica which people will be able to buy into for surgical services.

    The quote is totally misleading.

Thank you for the clarification gofer. I did not hear Rush that day. He loves America, that is for certain. But, he most certainly is against government control of health care, and much else.

Another option is to move away from large cities. Look for states with dry counties. They do not sell liquor. Many rural areas are still the way I remember them as a child. Everyone speaks English and they prefer to hire neighbors or their kids when they need workers.
I have noticed that one particular area we are interested in had an influx of Latino workers after a major tornado (OK). They hung around for a couple of months and then moved on. They do not like dry counties or areas where the population does not speak Spanish.

This type of move will require a lower standard of living and may not be for everyone. Lower income means you pay less in taxes to support a corrupt government.

When you are having chest pain, Costa Rica might as well be inside Dante's circle of hell, it is just not practicable. You'll be dead before your plane gets clearance to leave the tarmac, even if you own your own plane.

We have purchased gold coins with a portion of our retirement savings, and also have enough Australian dollars in a safe deposit box to tide us over in case our economy collapses. It is not looking good that we have a future that can be sustained.

I would really like to go in with like minded citizens and purchase an island, where we could be our own government and take care of our services, and only allow those in we allow to purchase property. Bermuda runs their country like that - no one can buy property except Bermudians and no one is allowed to stay unless you have a profession, for instance, dentist, that they need. And they usually only allow you to stay for awhile, I guess they don't want you to get to comfy in paradise.

if your bank folds anything in your safe deposit box then belongs to the FDIC if I am not mistaken

No it does not belong to the FDIC but you need to go to them to get it out if they physically close your branch. I had a six month temp job working as a bookkeeper for the FDIC many years ago.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Man, I am fearing the worst from this. I really think they believe people are just going to roll over and take it ungreased again. From talking to everyday Joes and Janes, they are really getting uptight with this healthcare bull.

Like one guy and his wife said today, we'll have Obamacare, but we'll be homeless, because it will break the bank. When people are put forcefully into desperate positions, or cornered, they do desperate things.

This whole thing doesn't bode well.
