UK hate preacher Anjem Choudary has claimed via his Twitter page, that the tragic Washington, Oso mudslide that occurred on March 22nd was the work of Allah (God).

Choudary – who is known for his incendiary and extremist rhetoric, as well as links to convicted terrorists – tweeted on Tuesday: "The village of Oso Washington USA was washed away by Allah & disappeared without trace on Saturday! A lesson for everyone of Allah's power!"

He went on to quote chapters from the Quran that he believed proves his hypothesis.
He tweeted: "Do then those who devise evil (plots) feel secure that Allah will not cause the earth to swallow them up..." [Qur'an 16:45] SubhanAllah"

Followed by: "And We caused the earth to swallow him and his home. And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allah...." [Qur'an 28: 81]"

Followed by: "Verily, if We desire, We can cause the earth to swallow them or We can drop on them a fragment from the sky." [Qur’an, 34:9] Allahu Akbar"

Choudary and his groups are known for using public tragedies to garner attention.

Previously, he has protested the return of British soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and urged the burning of poppies, the symbol which Britons use to commemorate their war dead.

Yesterday The Guardian reported that the death toll from the Washington, Oso mudslide was expected to rise steeply, with 25 already pronounced dead, and a further 90 people missing.

22 Identified as Missing After Washington Mudslide

Officials working at the Washington mudslide on Monday evening said they have identified 22 people who remained missing or unaccounted for.

Thirty people had previously been listed as missing — and that number had been in the hundreds in the days immediately following the deadly landslide near the small community of Oso on March 22.

Twenty-four bodies have been recovered as of Monday evening, and 18 of those have been positively identified, said Gary Haakenson, executive director of Snohomish County.

Haakenson stressed that the six unidentified bodies could be people who are on the list of missing (PDF), which authorities released publicly in the hope that some of them are alive and will step forward.
