Parts of California were in a deep freeze Wednesday, with temperatures dropping into the teens in some parts of the northern Los Angeles County.

The National Weather Service predicted morning low temperature of between 16 and 22 degrees in the Antelope Valley, prompting warnings about damage to outdoor plants and crops.

The weather is only slightly warmer in other parts of the county. The L.A. basin will see lows around 40 degrees, officials said, and the San Fernando Valley could see temperatures dipping below 30 degrees.

Officials said Sacramento could see its coldest Thanksgiving on record, with temperatures hovering around 28 degrees.

The cold snap will continue on Thanksgiving Day, officials said.
