Most of these guns are people with gun permits that forget that their gun is in their bag and carry it into the airport, loaded.
It needs to be in their checked bag, unloaded and in a hard sided carry case.
And they have to declare that it is in the bag, before TSA finds it.

Melendez said it is not uncommon to find a weapon during security checks.

"It happens at least two times every day in our nation's airports," Melendez said. "More often than not, the passenger says they forgot it was there."
