The woman and a male were in a vehicle stopped at a red light in the 5900 block of North Ridge about 12:55 a.m. when another male got out of a gray car nearby and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.
The woman was shot in the head and taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
A police source said the male sitting in the vehicle’s passenger seat is a documented gang member. He was not injured in the shooting.
About 1:20 p.m. Saturday, a 36-year-old man was killed in a Washington Park neighborhood shootout on the South Side.

The most recent nonfatal shootings happened Sunday evening on the West and Far South sides.
About 9:40 p.m., a 65-year-old man standing in the backyard of a West Pullman neighborhood home was shot in the lower back and right arm by someone in the alley of the 12100 block of South Wentworth. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
At 7:05 p.m., a 36-year-old man walked into Loretto Hospital after an Austin neighborhood shooting in the first block of North Long Avenue. He told detectives he had been sitting in a parked vehicle when three people walked up and one of them shot him in the chest and shoulder. The documented gang member was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
About 5:30 p.m., a 27-year-old woman was shot in the right arm by someone in a silver van while she was driving in the 200 block of North Homan in East Garfield Park. She took herself to the University of Illinois Hospital, where she was listed in good condition, police said.

Three men were killed and at least 14 other people have been wounded since late Tuesday morning in shootings on the West and South sides, police said.
The first fatal shooting happened about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 4900 block of West Monroe Street in Austin, according to Officer Kevin Quaid, a Chicago police spokesman.
Two men, 29 and 18, were sitting on a porch on Monroe when a gunman emerged and fired shots, Quaid said.
The older man was shot twice in the chest and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The younger man was shot in the back and leg, and was taken in serious condition to Stroger, Quaid said.

The slain man was identified as Antonio White, 29, of the 700 block of North Harding Avenue, who was pronounced dead at Stroger at 2:37 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Information on a home address block for White was not available.
Police believe the attack may have been gang-related.
In what police said was a related development, officers arrested three people and confiscated three guns Tuesday evening in the 4400 block of West Monroe Street, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.
Organized crime officers were told by neighborhood residents that there was a group of gang members who might be armed in the area of 4400 West Monroe, Guglielmi said in an email. The officers immediately went to the area and saw a group of men standing in a group, and as officers went up to the men to question them, they ran and officers saw two of the men discard handguns and a high-capacity magazine.

All three were eventually caught and taken into custody, Guglielmi said in the email. They were brought to Area North, where they were being questioned in the earlier shooting, and charges were pending, he said.
"Officers likely prevented another shooting — possibly in retaliation to initial incident," Guglielmi said on Twitter.
A 21-year-old man was killed in the Marquette Park neighborhood about 9:10 p.m., police said. He was in the 7400 block of South Maplewood Avenue when someone fired shots from a vehicle, hitting him in the chest. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The man, identified as Jeremy Parker of the 7900 block of South Damen Avenue, was pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
At 11:40 p.m., one man was killed and another wounded in Pilsen. The men, ages 43 and 35, were at 18th and Halsted streets when someone in a silver SUV fired shots. The 43-year-old was hit in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene. The 35-year-old was shot in the knee and went to Stroger Hospital. His condition was stabilized.
    In nonfatal shootings:
About 11:30 p.m. a 30-year-old woman was grazed in the Gresham neighborhood. She was in the 8800 block of South Laflin Street when she heard gunfire. She had been grazed in the back and went to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Her condition was stabilized.
At 11:15 p.m., a 27-year-old man was beaten and shot in the Marquette Park neighborhood. He was on the sidewalk when several people came up and began to beat him. At some point as they were attacking him he was shot in the shoulder. He went to Holy Cross Hospital, and his condition was stabilized.
At 10:35 p.m., a male was shot in East Chatham. He was in the 8200 block of South Maryland Avenue when he was shot in the foot. No further information was immediately available.
About 9:05 p.m. a woman was shot in the knee in the Park Manor neighborhood. She was a passenger in a vehicle in the 7000 block of South Wabash Avenue when someone on foot fired shots and she was hit in the knee. She was driven to University of Chicago Medical Center.
About 8:30 p.m. a 25-year-old man was shot in a Bronzeville backyard. He was in the 600 block of East Bowen Drive when someone came up on foot and began shooting. He was shot multiple times and taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
Just before 6 p.m., two men were shot while sitting on a porch in the 6800 block of South Throop Street, Quaid said.
One man in his 20s was shot in both legs and the right shoulder, while another man in his 20s was shot in the abdomen and left leg. Both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, Quaid said.
The two were on a porch when two men or boys came up and fired shots at them, Quaid said.
About 6 p.m. a 31-year-old man was shot in West Pullman, police said. He was in the 12100 block of South Emerald Avenue when someone in a vehicle fired shots and hit him in the back. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition.
Also in the Austin neighborhood, two men were shot in the 200 block of North Lockwood Avenue about 3:15 p.m., Quaid said.
The men were on the street when a man or boy approached and started shooting at them. A 31-year-old man was wounded in the lower abdomen or hip, and a 34-year-old man was shot in the back. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized.
The two were engaged in a dice game when shot, police said.
Another man was shot minutes after 1 p.m. in the 5200 block of South Prairie Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.
The 41-year-old man suffered a wound to the leg, and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in good condition, Estrada said.
Earlier Tuesday, a 44-year-old man was shot in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood.
That shooting happened about 11 a.m. in the 800 block of North Tripp Avenue, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman. The man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Estrada said.
