3 Wis. Republicans retain seats in recalls

MADISON, Wis. — Democrats have picked up one seat in the Wisconsin Senate and three Republicans have staved off attempts to recall them from office.
Two seats are still up in the area Tuesday in an intense battle for control of the Wisconsin Senate fueled by the backlash against Gov. Scott Walker's efforts to strip away most public employees' union rights.
Democrats must win the two remaining seats to have a chance to take over the Senate from Republicans. Unofficial results show those races remained too close to call.
Even if Democrats prevailed in those districts, they would also have to win two other races targeting Democratic incumbents next week to hold on to the majority.
