    Email to me from Kelloggs

I emailed Kelloggs and General Mills concerning ingredients they get from foreign countries, here is their response:

Thank you for contacting us regarding the source of our
ingredients. Kellogg understands your concerns over your food
safety, especially in light of recent pet food recalls. We want
to assure you that Kellogg has stringent supplier requirements
that include third party audits, food safety inspections and
assured compliance with all applicable regulations. All of our
suppliers must provide proof of ingredient safety.

We can confirm that none of our raw ingredients originated from
Zuzhou Anying Bioligic Technology, which was implicated in the
pet food recall. We do not use wheat gluten, corn gluten, corn
meal, rice gluten, rice meal, rice protein concentrate, soy
isolate or soy meal sourced from China.

Kellogg sources vitamins from a number of countries, including a
small amount from China. Because of the Quality Assurance
programs we have in place, we are confident if the safety of
    these ingredients.

We appreciate your interest in our products and hope you will
continue to trust our high quality standards. Please know your
safety is as important to us, as is our 100-year reputation of
bringing you high quality food products.

    Sincerely,

That's what the pet food people said, as well as the vitamin people.

I eat nothing from kellogs or general mills because they use gmo foods in their products.

Why don't they buy american products ?

I agree I will sadly stop using some of this countries oldest and best known & trusted companies' products.

They are no longer owned and operated by their founders and do not really care about us or our safety.

Them importing products from other countries instead of using the abundance produced by our own farmers is another example of their greed !

I am looking at product labels more closely now...Did you know Kraft is now called Kraft Global....just saw that on some Post cereal.......

If it don't say Made in The USA instead of contact us at PO box so & so usa I will buy something else stating " Made in the Usa" if possible.

The problem with boxed foods, is we don't know where certain ingredients are from.

The food may all be mixed, and packaged here, but where did they get their ingredients?

As far as I know, they aren't required by law to state that. We need to demand that all food items are labeled.

I agree, otherwise we should buy locally grown food and stop buying processed foods. We need to complain to the manufacturers as well. We need legislation to protect us consumers. If I do not know where my food is from then I simply will not buy it. I am learning how to cook more and more things every day and they taste great without MSG, High fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors and colors, without gmo soybean oil and toxic cottonseed oil. I guess it wont be long before they out law backyard gardens.

In a recent phone conversation with a vitamin company I was told that even if they purchase their ingredients from a US supplier they have no way of knowing where that supplier got their products. The rep suggested that I write to the FDA and the Federal Trade Commission and tell them that the US needs to stop trading food and drug products with China because they have proven themselves untrustworthy on many occasions now.

I am mentioning this here because it occurred to me that many, if not most, of our foods are "fortified" with vitamins. Even if all the other ingredients come from the US I figure there is a very good chance that they are using vitamins from China. They may buy those vitamins from a US company but there is no way to know if they originally came from China.

There are laws on the books to label food products with country of origin. The Bush administration has pushed back compliance a couple of times already. We really need to continue writing Congress about Bush's aversion to laws protecting citizens.

Chinese imports are being recalled for potentially lethal health hazards.

that those Kelloggs products call to you and you just can't resist b/c you're physiologically addicted to those lovely lovely Kelloggs products...

and you just can't resist and you scarf down those Kelloggs foods with those Chinese "vitamins"...

and then you just happen to coincidentally happen to happen to happen to coincidentally happen to happen to get sick...

then don't claim Bismarck didn't try to warn you, "Evil Capitalist Imperialst" that you be

I used to work for Sony building computers.

The chips etc came from China.

They would give off noxious odors that made me sick to the point it impaired my ability to work there.

    Another total random fluke coincidence...

from centrally planned state run Communist China.
