Hey, maybe this summer the tourists won't come to LL Beans anymore and I can have my hometown of Freeport back!
I think LL Beans opened a store in VA.

I went to LL Beans in Maine about 10 years ago. I really liked it.

In my country the price for one gallon has already surpassed 10$.

Here they drill much of it on public land or the public owns the mineral rights. You would think if they were honest each one of us would receive a check for our share. Jed Clampett did!

Instead they stiff us with subsidizing the oil industry!

Here is an article I just Googled up on the subject. I'm sure there are others. Congress is always talking about some new payout to the oil companies.

About $3.85 here. Many places in San Francisco over $4.00.

Liberals are prone to blame Pres. Bush for the high cost of gas. It is really due to the high level of economic demand in China for petroleum, but liberals can get a lot of political mileage by blaming Bush.

I like it too and it will only stay this way if we keep the costs of living high, have lots of potholes in the road, keep the business taxes high so companies don't come here, and don't ever have ample parking for ANYONE. If we could justl ower our welfare benefits, we are the most lenient in America, we could get back to basics.

They have about 10 stores now, some overseas even, like Japan. I'm hoping the economy slaps them silly!

My mom worked there for 20 years, dad for 10, and me after highschool and some Christmas Rushes. My mom's LL Bean work number is in the 300's and mine is in the 1000's. When I work there the people always double check to make sure I'm correct on my number.

I miss my little home town..... at least they built old-looking buildings but it sucks to see your childhood go to tourists. Why would I want more rules, traffic, smog and people in line in front of me?

When they wanted to widen the highway here, some of us wanted 1 lane in and 6 lanes out! I could care less about businesses, I'm for rural living and rural, simpler ways of life. Everyone knows everyone here.

Sorry but this is a sore spot for me. I have 1500 in my town that's next to Freeport and I'm moving to a small town. I like that we have no stop lights and everyone just yields at stop signs.. LOL

My father and his wife lived in Kennebuck and it was beautiful. When I visited him over the years, we always visited LL Beans the Wedding Chappel(?) that took up a whole block. I loved the small town feeling. Its been years since I've been there and I'm sure its changed alot since then. Its a shame and sad that small towns will just be a thing of the past.

A gallon of gas is a gallon of gas. It seems to me that it is the dollar that isn't what it used to be.

When I started working I was making about 7.4 gallons of gas an hour. I was paid $1.85. Gas was about $.25.

For the same starting pay for someone out of high school today it would come to about $28.64. I'm paying about $3.87 a gallon now.

I think we need to realize a dollar is not a dollar and never again will be a dollar as long as the government keeps printing them up for wars and to cover bad investments and other shady deals.

Saving makes no sense. Spend them if you've got them.

Anyone know what would happen specifically to retirement monies if when we do go to the Amero's?

Will we get 7 cents on every dollar, or a 10 dollar bill equals a 10 dollar Amero?
