Allen West: Obamacare Was Designed to Destroy Our Republic

It’s past time to repeal the destructive legislation known as the “Affordable” Care Act. It’s the single most economically destructive law we’ve seen in decades.
Millions of Americans are losing their insurance, doctors and hospitals are rebelling, and states are openly attempting to nullify the law by exempting in-state residents and businesses from participation. Businesses are cutting hours and employees because of the law’s expensive, job-killing mandates.
As some have argued, this is exactly what Obamacare was meant to do. As Charles Krauthammer put it, Obamacare was “designed to bring socialism.” Allen West has come out to say the same thing: Obamacare was a ploy to destroy our Republic by taking people out of jobs and putting them on the government dole.
He discusses this issue on his website:
As we discussed yesterday, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reports that Obamacare will reduce the size of America’s labor force by some 2.5 million full time equivalent (FTE) workers by 2024.
The response from the White House and its propaganda mouthpiece, the New York Times, that this is a good thing is simply appalling. I am reminded of the Superman comic book Bizarro world where everything is in reverse. And so it seems in the Obama administration, where work is bad, staying at home for government subsidies is good, and the “fundamental transformation” advances.
Why work when you can just stay at home and receive your guaranteed government income? [...]
Avik Roy of Forbes provides his take on this bizarre assertion emanating from the White House,
The CBO wasn’t responsible for the most amazing thing that happened yesterday. That title belongs to the Obama White House, where Press Secretary Jay Carney claimed that 2.5 million Americans leaving the workforce was a good thing, because they would no longer be “trapped in a job.”
Trapped in a job? So now President Obama will liberate us from the toils of actually earning a living by just paying us to stay home and produce nothing. And exactly how, more importantly who, will be generating the resources to free us from being trapped in a job?

Tocqueville, writing on American political institutions back in the 1830s, was prophetic in his analysis of a potential downfall of the Republic. Quoting Alexander Fraser Tytler, he said:
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.
Obamacare takes us one giant step further down the road to socialism. It’s meant to punish the hard-working and reward those who want to sit at home at live off the government. Our Republic is at grave risk if we don’t repeal this law immediately and start limiting the size and scope of government.
