Americans Can Now Pay Their Taxes at 7-Eleven

Americans now have the option of paying their taxes in cash at 7-Eleven convenience stores, according to an Internal Revenue Service announcement.

“Taxpayers have many options to pay their tax bills by direct debit, a check or a credit card, but this provides a new way for people who can only pay their taxes in cash without having to travel to an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center,” IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said Wednesday in a statement.

The cash payment option is designed to make it more convenient for taxpayers as the April 18th filing deadline approaches. A partnership between the IRS and electronic payment providers Official Payments and PayNearMe allows taxpayers to make payments at more than 7,000 7-Eleven stores in 34 participating states.

The IRS warns that it could take five to seven days to process, so those wishing to use the cash payment option should start well before the deadline.
