16 Year Old Confronts Nancy Pelosi on NSA Spying – Watch the Babbling that Ensues

Sixteen year old Andrew Demeter won a documentary contest on C-SPAN. As a result, he was given the opportunity to interview Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). One his questions was with regard to the National Security Agency Spying program, something that Pelosi has consistently fought for. Her response is laden with babbling and blaming Bush, yet there is no denying that Pelosi was behind last year's push to continue funding the Orwellian Big Brother, unconstitutional violations of the Fourth Amendment that are being performed on a regular bases by the NSA.

Demeter didn't pull any punches either. He asked Pelosi, "Why do you support the NSA's ubiquitous and illegal data collection?"
Notice the babbling that begins to take place.
"Well, I, I…do not I have questions about the metadata collection that they were, uh, collecting unless they had a reason to do so," Pelosi stuttered. "So I found, uh, so I was one, I didn't, I didn't support, Amash – that resolution. I didn't think that was the appropriate resolution, but I do think that the burden is on the, uh, department…um on the community… and I have fought them for years on the wide swath that they have put out there."
Pelosi was instrumental in lobbying fellow Democrats to vote against Congressman Amash's resolution.
But Demeter, who has been a guest on Infowars Nightly News, then followed up, asking "You did vote for a bill to continue funding for the NSA though."
"Yeah, of course," she said. "I don't think we should not fund the National Security Agency, no, they do many many things."
Still Demeter pressed her. "Isn't the NSA a clear violation of the Fourth Amendment?"
"No, some of what…they should…. What they do should be subjected to scrutiny and some of the things, but they perform many other functions as well," Pelosi answered. "And uh, we hold them to a high order. And I've had my biggest fights here in…. in the intelligence community… with the Director of the NSA…uh, Hayden, when he was the Director, and I don't think he was on the level with us, but that doesn't mean there aren't other things that are there… uh … that are …. Uh… that are good things…uh… or necessary for us to have."
In other words, Pelosi dodged the question and ignored the clear violations that even her own colleagues (albeit in Feinstein's case she was upset at the CIA) have been complaining about. That led to Congressman Justin Amash (R-MI) blasting Feinstein as a "hypocrite" and charging that it was people like her that are the reason the "public doesn't trust Congress."

After taking a swipe at Bush via her claim that Michael Hayden, who was NSA Director and CIA Director under George W. Bush, she then specifically tried to pin the tail on Bush for what the current administration is doing.
"From 9/11 on, the Bush administration went too far, on all of these things, and…. Uh…we have a correspondence back and forth to prove, or to demonstrate, that they were just doing the right thing," she said.
Hmmm, doing the right thing? OK, first Pelosi voted for the Patriot Act without any restraint, a clear violation of the Constitution. I'll bet she didn't read that either. Pelosi has voted for the National Defense Authorization Act and a Democrat President Barack Obama signed it into law, unconstitutionally declaring that US citizens can be indefinitely detained without trial. Her only pushback was against Republicans who would not side with her. This is her record.
She voted to fund the NSA in order to keep it going to do these "other things," while at the same time funding them to do illegal things, which she never put a fight up over.
According to Paul Joseph Watson, Demeter was also confronted by a C-SPAN employee because he actually took cell phone video of Pelosi's reaction to his question.
"Only once I posed my question to Pelosi did I overtly display my phone and capture her reaction of pure confusion," said Demeter, adding that he was later asked by a C-SPAN staffer if he planned on posting the video to YouTube. When Demeter asked why it mattered, the staffer responded, "We wouldn't want to damage C-SPAN's relationship with Leader Pelosi and/or her office."

After a back and forth email exchange with the C-SPAN employee, Demeter was finally able to obtain the full length footage of the confrontation.

"If I — a shy, socially inept high-school student — can expose on a global scale the paradox that is politics, by asking nothing more than a question, then so too can you," said Demeter.
For all her claims of doing "good things," Pelosi was booed at last year's Netroots Nation Conference in her home state for claiming that Edward Snowden had broken the law. See the Orwellian double speak that is going on here? The woman will not clearly state that the NSA has violated the law. Instead, she claims that they have not done so. What a piece of work this woman is!
