    Ammunition Accountability Act

An ACT relating to firearms and ammunition; requiring [AGENCY] to establish a statewide
database to track coded ammunition manufactured and sold for handguns and assault rifles.
    Section 1. Legislative Findings.
The State Legislature hereby finds the following:
Each year in the United States, more than 30% of all homicides that involve a gun go
    unsolved.
Handgun ammunition accounts for 80% of all ammunition sold in the United States.
Current technology for matching a bullet used in a crime to the gun that fired it has
worked moderately well for years, but presupposes that the weapon was recovered by
    law enforcement.
Bullet coding is a new and effective way for law enforcement to quickly identify persons
of interest in gun crime investigations.

    Which state?

This is bull. Any idiot (criminal) that wishes to get past this will either re-load their own, or modify the round before use, or steal ammo.

If this were to pass in any state the suppliers would have no choice but to raise the costs. Who would pay for such idiotic nonesense.

This is far reaching. Another attempt at back door legislating the 2nd Amendment.

People who have registered guns and purchase their ammunition through gun shops are not the problem. It's the black market and street corner guns sales that should be targeted.

I can already see this happening. Somebody is going to kill someone with a bullet owned by someone else or people share bullets. What if your ammo is stolen...you report it...someone is shot later....YEP, you're the FIRST suspect. Again, another absurd, insane act of govt.

Another in a series of idiotic ideas by our brain dead government. Moreover, it's a stealth attempt to control the lives of individual Americans. We can't let this nonsense go on!

This may be true, ReggieMae, but it will serve as the-foot-in-the-door fpr the anti-gun liberals who are devout in their efforts to thwart our right to bear arms.

There was a proposal about 2 years ago, I don't know what happened to it, but it suggested that ammunition be regarded/classified/labeled as explosives. This would prevent gun owners from buying ammo..don't know where that headed..

All of this is why it is a good idea to stock up on ammo. I've been buying a box a month while I still can and while it's still cheap.

What does this have to do with immigration?

Have moved from General Discussion to Other Topics which seems more appropriate.
