Baucus, 2008: 'DUTY of Next Congress to Reform Health Care'

Sen. Max Baucus, 2008: '"It is the DUTY of the Next Congress to Reform America's Health Care System."

According to a written statement made by U.S. Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) on November 12, 2008, in an introduction to an official White Paper referenced below, "It is the duty of the next Congress to reform America's health care system." In preparation for the fulfillment of this duty (later to be imposed upon U.S. citizen and legal resident taxpayers), Baucus writes that he "led the Senate Finance Committee through nine hearings" on the issue of health care reform in 2008, and filed the official White Paper referenced below.

Sen. Baucus's full statement continues, "In 2009, Congress must take up and act on meaningful reform legislation that achieves coverage for every American while also addressing the underlying problems in our health care system. The urgency of this task has become undeniable." To read the complete introductory statement and White Paper, please see:

Reforming America's Health Care System, A Call to Action"

In brief, according to Sen. Baucus - who in fact almost single-handedly crafted the broad premises of the health care legislation which the U.S. Senate is now considering - NO ONE CAN DENY that the United States health care system 1) has underlying problems and 2) not only must be reformed, but that this REFORM MUST TAKE PLACE IN 2009! Further, it is his assertion that it is the "duty" of the U.S. Congress to do this and, evidently, for all U.S. citizens and legal residents simply to accept the actions of the U.S. Congress on this personal issue both for themselves and on behalf of their dependants.

Does this seem more than a bit high-handed of Sen. Baucus to anyone else?
