Good to see the VAT go down! I was trying like the dickens inbetween things to put calls in to the critters to vote it down. I don't worry about the slurs of racism. It is a fruitless witch-hunt now, and the lefty socialists are groping at straws to find something they use to attack us. You're most welcome, Hylander. Yes, it was great to see the VAT go down, after the Dems in the White House tried to pump it up. It's great for the FairTax movement, too, because since they tried to pump it up, it shows they have no cause at all to oppose the FairTax, which is a national retail sales tax with a rebate for essentials to replace the income tax based on the same concept of taxing products and services 1 time at 1 rate at the final point of sale, instead of all along the way as the VAT and not in addition to an income tax but instead of an income tax.

And we need to do the same thing with scamnesty, and cap and tax. Until we can vote these commies out, we just need to hold the line. If we can do that without losing too many people from the dire economic situation, it will be a success in itself, and at least a small victory.

Judy here is a link for the Vat tax I was curious about it and many months ago I was of the opinion that it (being the European type one) may be a way for us to pay for health care, instead of how it was done, just passing it on to us in a big income tax.

I thought with a Vat tax they wouldn't pass this health care bill. I also thought it was a tax put on goods, and services coming into the country not going out..I had heard that other countries use it to fund their health care system since we import more than we export I was thinking of it as a no brainer....

Of course being our government they would want to tax all things all ways.

The value-added-tax is a tax on business at all stages of production as the goods and services are produced or developed for final consumption. For example, if you buy rubber to make tires, then the rubber is taxed, if you buy steel to make steel belted tires, the steel is taxed, if you process the raw rubber for tire production, your processed rubber is taxed again for the valued added to the raw rubber by the processing operation, if you process the steel for tire belts, then the steel is taxed again for the value added for converting the steel into steel belts or the tires, and on and on and and on and on. It's not as complicated for business as the income tax, and is preferable to the income tax, but is not as good as the FairTax because the consumer never knows what they're paying for in the VAT, it's embedded, hidden, and marked up for the cost of the tax and the administration of it, so while it's a better alternative then the income tax, it's not as good as the FairTax which taxes the good or service 1 time at 1 rate at 1 point at the final point of sale, and only taxes consumption, not the intermediary business steps of production. Also, since the VAT is a tax on production, it only taxes US production. It would tax the sale of imports but only at the distribution stage, not the production stage, so it's still most unfair to US producers and therefore far less preferable than the FairTax which taxes all new goods and services sold in the US for non-business purposes 1 time at 1 rate at the same final point of sale which means importers pay the same US tax on products and services sold in the US as US producers and service-providers.

I know people are worried about health care issues, but the reality is the health care issue is just a symptom of our basic economic issues which are illegal immigration which steals jobs, deflates wages, cuts benefits, and increases the number of uninsured and impoverished who can't afford their own medical care; the mandated income tax code that robs our employer earnings which reduces the amount of wages and benefits like health insurance many of our employers can afford to pay and offer and runs many of our employers out of the country; free trade treason that runs our employers, jobs, infrastructure, production, technology, innovations, money supply and tax base out of the country; the War on Drugs which runs our money supply out of the country and hauls in illegal aliens and crime; and the bans on oil and gas drilling which increases our imports of foreign oil which robs our economy, job base, tax base and employment and incomes.

We need to fix our economy and then most of the health insurance issues related to affordability will evaporate:

    1. stop illegal immigration
    2. pass the FairTax
    3. protect our trade
    4. legalize/regulate/tax under 2 the illegal drug trade
    5. drill baby drill

We still need to remove the insurance exemption from the Sherman Anti-Trust Act, open up interstate competition, prohibit denials of pre-existing conditions, dropped coverages when you're sick and no fault rescission and convert all these not-for-profit phony "charity" hospitals to legitimate regulated for-profit businesses so they operate like normal businesses which is the only way we'll ever control the "rising cost of health care", which the FairTax will do for us, because while the FairTax doesn't change the tax status of the entity, it makes it moot for any entity selling new products or services for money, so there's no point to it any more.

The best comparison I can come up with to illustrate what I think Obama Care has done is Obama Care is like being forced by the government to take your flea-infested dog to the vet and paying him $3,000 to count the fleas instead of $150 to give him a bath.
