    AP source: Obama picks Sotomayor for Supreme Court
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090526/ap_ ... reme_court
    WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama tapped U.S. Circuit Judge Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court on Tuesday, officials said, making her the first Hispanic in history picked to wear the robes of a justice.

    If confirmed by the Senate, Sotomayor, 54, would succeed retiring Justice David Souter. Two officials described Obama's decision on condition of anonymity because no formal announcement had been made.

    Administration officials say Sotomayor would bring more judicial experience to the Supreme Court than any justice confirmed in the past 70 years.

    A formal announcement was expected at midmorning.

    Obama had said publicly he wanted a justice who combined intellect and empathy — the ability to understand the troubles of everyday Americans.

    Democrats hold a large majority in the Senate, and barring the unexpected, Sotomayor's confirmation should be assured.

    If approved, she would join Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as the second woman on the current court.

    U.S. Circuit Judge Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court

    Does U.S. Circuit Judge Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court understand the below law?

    How has she handled illegals or undocumented immigrants in her courts?

    Has she aided and abetted illegals?

    Q: Who may serve as a juror?
    http://www.uscourts.gov/faq.html#judges

    Q: Who may serve as a juror?

    The Jury Act, which is set out at Title 28, U.S. Code, Sections 1861-1878, calls for random selection of citizens' names from voters lists or combined voters and drivers lists. (Because random selection is required, individuals may not volunteer for service.) More on Jury Service...

    The act states that individuals are legally disqualified from service:

    * if they are not a citizen of the United States 18 years old, who has resided for a period of one year within the judicial district;
    * if they are unable to read, write, and understand the English language with a degree of proficiency necessary to fill out a qualification form;
    * if they are unable to speak the English language;
    * if they are incapable by reason of mental or physical infirmity to render jury service; or
    * if they have felony charges pending against them or they have been convicted of a felony and their civil rights have not been restored.

    In addition, the Jury Act lists three groups that are exempt from federal jury service:

    * members of the armed forces on active duty;
    * members of professional fire and police departments; and
    * "public officers" of federal, state or local governments, who are actively engaged in the performance of public duties.

    Persons belonging to these groups may not serve on federal juries, even if they so desire.

    United States colony
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puerto_Rico
    On July 25, 1898, during the Spanish-American War, Puerto Rico was invaded by the United States with a landing at Guánica. As an outcome of the war, Spain ceded Puerto Rico, along with Cuba, the Philippines, and Guam to the U.S. under the Treaty of Paris.[18]

    The United States and Puerto Rico thus began a long-standing relationship. Puerto Rico began the 20th century under the military rule of the U.S. with officials, including the governor, appointed by the President of the United States. The Foraker Act of 1900 gave Puerto Rico a certain amount of popular government, including a popularly-elected House of Representatives. In 1917, the Jones-Shafroth Act granted Puerto Ricans U.S. citizenship and provided for a popularly-elected Senate to complete a bicameral Legislative Assembly. As a result of their new U.S. citizenship, many Puerto Ricans were drafted into World War I and all subsequent wars with U.S. participation.

    When President Obama/Soetoro's Supreme Court nominee is questioned by the Senate committee on national television in a few weeks, will any Senator have the guts to ask the nominee the following questions:

    1. Birth Certificate: Could you please provide us a copy of your long form birth certificate?

    2. College Records: Could you please release your college records to us and to the public?
