    Arizona bans 'ethnic studies'

    By ANDY BARR | 5/12/10 9:00 AM

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s signature banning ethnic studies classes comes nearly six weeks after she signed a controversial immigration law that has prompted boycott calls. AP

Arizona GOP Gov. Jan Brewer has signed a law banning the state’s schools from teaching ethnic studies classes.

Brewer signed the bill Tuesday that targets Chicano studies programs currently being taught in Tucson schools.

Proponents of the bill argue that the classes are designed only for students of a particular race and promote ethnic solidarity over community integration.

So is Politico saying that 'ethnic studies' SHOULD teach students to hate other races and ethnic groups and advocate for overthrow of the government? Does Politico believe 'ethnic studies' should be limited to only students belonging to the 'ethnic group', or to put it more bluntly, does Politico believe that 'ethnic studies' justifies segregating the students?

Again, Arizona does the right thing for the right reasons and rags like the Politico try to play the race card. The reason for the law is that some teachers were doing exactly what I stated in my first paragraph and the state and Gov Brewer determined they would put a stop to it.

And by the way Politico, 'ethnic studies' were NOT banned by the Arizona law.
