Arizona man charged with molesting Glendora boy.

An Arizona man accused of molesting a 13-year-old Glendora boy was arrested Thursday in Gilbert, Ariz., and returned to California to stand trial, police said Friday.

Matthew Lane Hatchard, 24, of Gilbert has been charged with molesting the boy over a five-month period in early 2010 and is being held in the Glendora jail on $1 million bail, Glendora police Lt. Tim Staab said.

Hatchard could face additional charges as police have found hundreds of images of child pornography on his computers, Staab said.

He was due to be arraigned at Pomona Superior Court Friday morning, but that hearing has been continued to April 21, according to court records.

The boy's mother, who wished to remain unnamed, said she had recently gotten divorced and Hatchard helped her with the move.

She said she let Hatchard move in with them in January 2010 when he told her he had been hired for a job at a technology company.

She said she's been "in hell" since her son told her he was molested.

"I trusted this guy," she said. "I let him move in with me. I allowed this to happen under my roof."

Staab said the crime was reported to police after Hatchard returned to his parents' home in Gilbert in July 2010.

"We ended up eventually writing a search warrant for the suspect's residence in Gilbert, Ariz., with the great and much-appreciated cooperation of the detectives of Gilbert," Staab said.

When the warrant was served last month, Hatchard made incriminating statements to detectives. Detectives seized his computers and a computer specialist working for the Glendora Police Department later found "numerous images of child pornography" on them.

"As we speak, our (information technology) computer specialist is still downloading numerous computers," Staab said. "As we find more - it appears that even as of yesterday we've found, hundreds, if not thousands of child porn (images) - additional charges will be submitted."

The boy's mother said her son needs counseling and they're moving to a new home to try and leave some of the bad memories behind them.

"After all this is said and done and we're moved out, I'm sure we'll be better," she said. "But right now we're not OK."
