    Army Special Forces commander/Transsexual wins

Army Special Forces commander Transsexual wins $500,000 lawsuit

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge has awarded a former Army Special Forces commander nearly $500,000 because she was rejected from a job at the Library of Congress while transitioning from a man to a woman.

Diane Schroer of Alexandria, Va., applied for the terrorism analyst job while she was still a man named David Schroer. He was offered the job, but the offer was pulled after he told a library official that he was having surgery to change his gender.

U.S. District Judge James Robinson ruled Tuesday that Schroer was entitled to $491,190 in back pay and damages because of sex discrimination.

The Library of Congress and the Justice Department argued unsuccessfully that discrimination because of transsexuality was not illegal sex discrimination under the Civil Rights Act.

I don't even know HOW to reply to this one. I have mixed feelings. While trans-gender people creep me out and I don't think that they should go to these extremes, they still have to work. If this were just a normal person this wouldn't even be a story.

I used to do pilot schedules for an airline, and we had a he/she captain. "She" was the ugliest thing you have ever seen. Image yourself as a passenger waiting on your flight. Up walks your pilot, who is dressed like a woman, but looks like a man. "She" had long, red, balding hair, and HORRIBLY applied makeup. "She" was a great pilot though, she once saved her passengers when she was caught in a 757's jetwash that was at least 2 miles ahead. They almost went completely upside down but "her" fast thinking saved them.
