Arpaio testifies in Toronto against man accused of threatening to kill him

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio completed testimony in Toronto Monday against a Canadian who has been charged with threatening to kill Arpaio last year.

Convicted felon Matthew Sanderson, 37, sent an e-mail to Arpaio in June allegedly threatening his life and the lives of his family.

In his e-mail, Sanderson told Arpaio to "get his affairs in order" because he and his family would be killed within 24 months, according to a Sheriff's County statement.


In the e-mail, Sanderson said the sheriff was "scheduled for termination in a dramatic and memorable fashion" by "a bullet in the head or heart, poison, blow[ing up his] car or burn[ing him] alive," according to the statement.

Detectives worked with communications and Internet provider companies in the United States and Canada to determine the origin of the e-mail. The e-mail came from inside Canada, though they were made to look like they were coming from an Iowa school district, according to the statement.

Sanderson was taken into custody on July 12 by Toronto police.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Sanderson has a criminal record.

While in Canada, Arpaio was under security provided by the Toronto Police Department.

Hmmmmmm........now I'm wondering just what role a certain pro-illegal activist and obvious big time troublemaker, may have in this.

The details were being kept quiet but it was known that there had been some extremely serious threats against Joe and his family......threats considered so credible that, for the first time ever in his career, heavy security was necessary for their protection.

And Joe had alluded to some possible involvement of this other person in whatever was going on.

Of course, they may be unrelated incidents, but even if that is the case I'm not the only one who would love to see that so called "activist" go down and go down hard.

We don't take kindly to threats against our Sheriff Joe here in Maricopa County.
