ATF Sending Guns to Mexican Criminals

For two years, we've been hearing from U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and others in the Obama administration about a so-called 'iron pipeline' of American guns across the border.

In order to make sure that "pipeline" really existed, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), allowed about 1,765 firearms over 15 months to go from gun dealers in the U.S. to straw buyers that were the accomplices of a gun running ring set up by the ATF.

Gun shops wanted to stop the questionable sales, but ATF encouraged them to continue.

Making matters even more tragic, assault rifles found at the scene of U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry's death in December, and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Agent Jamie Zapata's death in February, were traced to these ATF "gun runner" sales.

Two brave United States servants, killed by guns supplied to their murderers by the ATF, probably under the watchful eye of both President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder - although Obama denies it.

    This is criminal!

Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) has launched an investigation into Project Gunrunner, and now Rep. Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has launched his own inquiry.

Issa has asked for all documents and information related to Project Gunrunner by March 30th.

Acting ATF Director Kenneth E. Melson has not cooperated with the investigation. Senator Grassley told CBS News he is being "stonewalled" in his efforts to find out information.

The White House has "no comment."

But Obama DID comment - just not to the American people. Look at this exchange between Obama and Jorge Ramos of Mexico's Univision network, about the ATF Gunrunner scandal:

Barack Obama: "First of all, I did not authorize it. Eric Holder, the attorney general, did not authorize it."

    Ramos: "Well, who authorized it?"

Barack Obama: "We don't have all the facts. This is a pretty big government, the United States government. I've got a lot of moving parts."

Harry Truman said, "The buck stops here."

Barack Obama says, "Let me find someone to blame this on."

There may be a situation here in which a serious mistake was made and if that's the case then we'll find out and we'll hold somebody accountable." - President Barack Obama

Senator Grassley and Representative Issa want answers, and they are getting none.

"Recent media reports have raised grave questions about your department's handling of operations involving gun trafficking in Mexico. In the aftermath of the tragic killing of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Jamie Zapata, it is imperative that you act decisively to assuage the public's deep suspicions that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has a policy permitting - and even encouraging - the movement of guns into Mexico by straw purchasers." - Congressman Darrell Issa, chairman, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform

On Sunday, March 13th, President Obama wrote an op-ed piece in the Arizona Daily Star calling for a "new discussion" on gun rights and strengthening background checks. This discussion is nothing new; Obama and his anti-gun supporters have been working to end our Second Amendment rights ever since he took office; now, he simply has a new "reason" to do so, by pointing to the Arizona tragedy.

And he is completely ignoring the fact that under his watch, a United States government agency supplied guns to Mexican drug cartels, which were ultimately used to kill at least two United States government employees.

We have told the President we would be "delighted to sit down and talk about how his administration has supplied guns to criminals." I am willing to bet he will not take us up on that offer.

Obama claims neither he NOR Attorney General Eric Holder approved the operation.

I find that highly unlikely. I am glad Senator Grassley and Representative Issa are working to get to the bottom of this dishonorable action.

The anti-gun lobby wants to stop the "flood of guns" into Mexico, when, in fact, that flood was caused by the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms!

Clearly, the ATF has a very political agenda in mind, and that is to take away your gun rights - even if it means allowing gun sales to criminals so they can present "evidence" to the administration that the Second Amendment should be restricted or abolished!

While the Obama administration was blaming our gun rights for the drug war violence in Mexico, its very own gun sting operation looks to have been a major source of illicit firearms.

This administration will do whatever it takes to destroy our Second Amendment rights! Please send your Faxes and Donations today and don't let them get away with it!

    Respectfully,

    Alan M. Gottlieb

P.S. We are seeing the lengths this administration will go to, in their efforts to take away our gun rights. This will not stand. Please help us save the Second Amendment and stop the Obama administration from destroying it!
