School Canyon Fire causing evacuations

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - The School Canyon Fire has cause evacuation of the Lakeview Campground at Parker Canyon Lake.
The fire was reported around 9:30 a.m. on May 8.

The cause of the fire is being ruled human caused. The fire was ignited in Mexico, and is burning in grass and brush.

As of 5:00 p.m., the fire has burned 1,200 acres in the United States and is also burning in Mexico.

Heidi Schewel with the U.S. Forest Service tells KGUN9 that no structures are threatened at this time.

Units on scene of the fire indicate the fire remains in the valley and is traveling north.

There are currently 2 20-person crews, 12 engines, 4 water tankers, 6 air tankers and 2 helicopters assigned to battle the fire.
