19 comment(s) TEMECULA ---- Border Patrol agents at the Interstate 15 checkpoint in Temecula found over $1 million worth of cocaine hidden in a car's gas tank this week, the agency said Friday.

Tuesday morning, an agent at the checkpoint stopped a Mercedes-Benz that was going north, a news release states. Its driver and a passenger, two Mexican men travelling in the country legally, told the agent they were going to visit relatives in Rancho Cucamonga. The agent sent the car for a secondary inspection.

Drug-searching dogs directed agents to the gas tank, where they found 11 bundles of cocaine weighing a total of 32 pounds and worth about $1,054,400, the release states. The two men and the drugs were turned over to U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement.
