SAN DIEGO – County health officials said Wednesday they are investigating six cases of hepatitis A that may be linked to a Chipotle Mexican Grill in La Mesa.
People who ate at the restaurant at 8005 Fletcher Parkway between March 1 and April 22 and are showing symptoms of hepatitis A should see a doctor to be tested, said Dr. Wilma Wooten, county public health officer.
Hepatitis A is a viral infection that attacks the liver and is spread by fecal contamination of water or food. Symptoms include nausea, diarrhea, fever, fatigue, dark urine and jaundice.

LA MESA – County health officials have identified six more cases of hepatitis A that may be linked to a Chipotle Mexican Grill here, bringing to 12 the total number of people sickened.
Department of Environmental Health officials continue to investigate the source of the illness. The restaurant's 25 employees are being tested for the virus, and so far none have tested positive, officials said.
Anyone who ate at the restaurant – 8005 Fletcher Parkway – between March 1 and Tuesday and who shows symptoms of hepatitis A should see a doctor and be tested, officials said.
The illness is a viral infection that attacks the liver and is spread by fecal contamination of water or food. Symptoms include nausea, diarrhea, fever, fatigue, dark urine and jaundice.
Monty Moran, president and chief operating officer of the restaurant chain, said the company is cooperating fully with the investigation.
Proper hygiene, including washing hands or using hand sanitizer after using the restroom, is important to prevent the spread of the illness, according to health officials. In 2007, 82 cases of hepatitis A were reported in the county.
People without a doctor who may be affected or those needing more information can call the county at (619) 515-6620.

LA MESA – Four more cases of Hepatitis A have been linked to possible exposure at a Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant, county health officials said Monday.
A total of 18 people, ranging from ages 23 to 59 years, have been identified. All 26 food handlers who work at the restaurant on 8005 Fletcher Parkway, have tested negative for the infection.
County health officials recommend that diners who went to the restaurant between March 1 and April 22 and have symptoms of the disease, see their physician to be screened for the illness.
Some symptoms include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal discomfort, dark urine and jaundice.
Hepatitis A is not chronic and symptoms usually last less than two months.
It is commonly transmitted when an object contaminated with the stool of someone with Hepatitis A comes in contact with another person's mouth.
Exposure can also happen when a person eats or drinks something contaminated with the Hepatitis A virus.

I BET ITS THE FOOD. THOSE TWO RESTAURANTS ARE SO FAR APART AND HAVE DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES. AND THE EMPLOYEES HAVE BEEN TESTED. BUT I BET CHIPOTLE SOURCES THEIR FOOD FOR THEIR RESTAURANTS FROM THE SAME SOURCE. THE EMPLOYEES AT THAT SOURCE OR SOURCES SHOULD BE TESTED.

Exactly, Redpony. They have to be getting their fresh produce from a place where the handlers need to be tested (here we go again, and would it be a surprise if it was the lettuce or other leafy greens?).
