Local woman killed by suspected drunken driver
GARDEN GROVE - A Diamond Bar woman was killed Saturday by an alleged drunken driver who fled the scene, authorities said.

Mukhtar Bagum, 64, died from injuries suffered in the crash, said Supervising Deputy Coroner Dan Aikin of Orange County coroner's office.

The crash occurred about 2:50 a.m. on the 22 Freeway, just west of Harbor Boulevard, California Highway Patrol Officer J. Sanchez said in a written release.

Eduardo Aguilera Orozco, 25, of Anaheim was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, drunken driving and hit-and-run, Sanchez said.

Bagum was a passenger in a 2004 Toyota Sequoia along with four children, ages 1, 5, 11 and 12, with her 28-year-old son at the wheel, Sanchez said.

The Toyota was eastbound on the freeway when it was struck from behind by Orozco's 2005 Chevy Malibu, Sanchez said.

The Toyota rolled over several times, fatally injuring Bagum, he said.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured, Sanchez said, and the other passengers suffered minor injuries only.

Orozco allegedly left his damaged car at the scene and fled on foot, Sanchez said. He suffered minor injuries.

He was arrested by CHP officers just before 2 p.m., he said.

According to court records, Orozco is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is due due in court to be arraigned Tuesday.
