    Santee's Fanita Ranch has new developer

    SANTEE — Santee’s giant, still-incubating Fanita Ranch housing project has a new developer.

    HomeFed Corp. of Carlsbad has acquired the 2,600-acre site in a foreclosure auction and pledged Tuesday to move ahead with the 1,400-home development on the city’s hilly north side.
    At some unspecified point.

    Paul Borden, HomeFed president and CEO, said it was premature to outline his company’s timetable for construction or say whether it would seek changes in the project’s city-approved master plan.
