Calif. median home price up 7 percent

Calif. median home price up 7 percent

By JACOB ADELMAN, The Associated Press
    2:21 p.m. July 16, 2009

LOS ANGELES — A tracking firm says the median home price in California jumped 7 percent last month from May.

MDA DataQuick says in a report released Thursday that the upturn, sustained now for a second month, is the result of an increase in sales of more expensive homes.

DataQuick says the statewide median price increased to $246,000, up from $230,000 in May, but down 25 percent from $328,000 in June 2008.

The firm also says about 44,000 homes were sold statewide last month, up more than 13 percent from about 39,000 in May and nearly 26 percent from 35,200 in June 2008.

The figures marked the 12th consecutive month when sales have increased on a year-over-year basis.

Americans don't want to live in Ca anymore.

The only people that can afford to buy houses in Cal. are the illegals because they get welfare and social services from our taxes and get paid in cash from their employers.

I feel sorry for the Americans living in Ca now.

JohnDoe2 , thank you for the info. I went to that link and found that much of the information was collected between 2003 to 2008. Much has unfortunately changed in our country since 2008. However, I hope for the sake of the Americans in Ca that this info is up to date and accurate. I'm just not sure that it is.

    Communication mishaps! Smile

Johndoe2, the problem, at times, with communicating via computers is that subtle nuances can be missed. Smile. I was being sarcastic because I think that the American people in Ca. have been treated like dirt and the illegals are favored above the legal citizens.

What you may not realize is that when people say things like that is that if no one corrects it there are people around the country who will believe it and repeat it as fact. Especially people who have never been to California.

This is why many people have such a distorted view of California.

Think how you would like it if people were saying things about your neighborhood, your city, your county, your state or your country that were not true and others believed it and repeated it as fact.

Could it possibly be that the dollar has lost so much value? Would be interesting to find out, not what race, but what national origin the home purchasers are.
