Call Dems Bluff On Refusing To Seat Scott Brown

In case you have not heard, the Democrats have come up with a plan to nullify temporarily the Massachusetts voters in the Senate special election on January 19, if Scott Brown wins.

As reported by the Boston Herald, interim Senator Paul Kirk is on record that he will vote for the Senate health care bill even if Brown wins the election if the vote takes place before Brown is sworn in. Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin has stated that the certification of the election result will be delayed at least until February 20, giving the Democrats a full month after the election to push through the health care bill without Brown being able to join a filibuster.

This scheme does not depend on the usual delay, for example, where there is a slight margin of victory in the hundreds of votes out of millions cast, where a recount and ballot challenges take time. The Democratic scheme will delay Brown's certification even if Brown is the clear winner.

Voters need to call the Democrats' bluff. The deliberate delay of Brown's certification in order to push through the health care bill will cause a political explosion unlike anything we have seen before.

There are certain red lines which no one has crossed before. And refusing to seat a duly elected Senator, for the sole purpose of excluding that Senator from voting on a particular piece of legislation, crosses that line.

Democrats are threatening to break the democratic links which bind us as a nation. The electoral outrage at such a tactic will be generational, and the Democratic leadership in Washington knows it.

If on the day of the health care vote, the duly elected Scott Brown shows up at the Senate to claim his seat for the vote, will Harry Reid instruct the Capitol Police to bar Brown from the chamber and from casting his vote? Will that be the legacy of health care "reform"?

The voters of Massachusetts need to call the Democrats bluff on this.

The Democrats have shown complete contempt for the Massachusetts voters, now it is time for the Massachusetts voters to show contempt for the Democrats who have hatched this scheme.

What's going to STOP Reid from doing that?

We all saw the tape of his recent "invitation only" healthcare event where the man who stood up in opposition was, not only ASSAULTED repeatedly by a another attendee, but removed by security and then carried out by the police.....ALL accomplished with the wave of Reid's arm and his droll dismissal of "dissent" by erely instructing "Remove this person.......".

And, haven't there been incidences reported by other members of Congress, where they have been "politely escorted" out when they have tried to gain access to closed door, secret meetings on various things....the baiout negotiations, if I recall correctly, was when we first started hearing about this.

So yeah....I fully believe Reid and the rest will do whatever they have to in order to ram this through. These people are now very blatantly trampling all over our process and it is escalating at an alarming degree.

The Dems are really going to commit suicide with that kind of move.
And to pull a prank like this in an election year is extremely stupid.

Here is his website again. They have a volunteer link -maybe we can help with calling to round up the votes. Certainly we can help by donating. What a crucial race this is.

If he by chance won, would they dare block him before the healthcare vote? (rhetorical question)

I read in another blog that if the vote is close they might pull a "Franken" on Brown.

**Looks like Reid is doing all the damage control he can this weekend with his racial remarks about Obama -and then it's back to business.

I absolutely agree with you V.

But that's what I.....and so many others......are finding so unsettling at ths point.

"Business as usual" in politics generally involves the pols....even the most liberal of the lot....... seeing just how far they can push and get away with, stopping or pulling back when it's clear that "we the peeps" are only going to allow them to get so far and it behooves them to avoid political backlash.

THIS.....what we're seeing now.....is an entirely different animal at the zoo altogether. This administration and those controlling congress are playing by a whole new set of rules we've NEVER seen before.....to the point where they aren't even pretending to have any regard for our process, the law, possible political or legal consequences as a result of their actions, etc. in public, while being up to the usual DC dirty tricks out of the public view.

They have literally dropped all pretense.....to the point where it's even becoming noticeable in Gibbsy's demeanor, attitude, and statements ( almost like he sees this as one bothersome final formality he can't wait to be over with once and for all).....and are acting very brazenly and openly in what they're doing, as if they don't have a concern in the world that they're going to be stopped.

    That's what's so troubling imo.
