CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico (AP) -- A Canadian tourist was shot and killed late Thursday inside his hotel room in the Mexican resort city of Cabo San Lucas, police said.
State police commander Enrique Wuilar says a lone gunman shot Canadian Bouabal Bounthavorn in his hotel room.
Wuilar says the 29-year-old man was shot three times in the head. He was staying with his girlfriend at the Hotel Riu in Cabo San Lucas.
Bounthavorn's girlfriend, 24-year-old Masha Heikali, was shot in one foot.
Wuilar says no one has been arrested in the killing and investigators have no leads.

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – Mexican police say they are protecting the girlfriend of a Canadian tourist who was killed in Mexico's Cabo San Lucas beach resort.
Police say 29-year-old Bouabal Bounthavorn was fatally shot late Thursday after he opened the door of his room at the Hotel Riu and argued briefly with an unknown man.
His girlfriend was wounded in the ankle and treated at a local hospital.
State police Cmdr. Enrique Wuilar says that authorities have no leads or motive in the killing.
They have set up roadblocks and are monitoring the airport for the killer, described as a tall, thin, dark-skinned man.

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico–Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs says it's pressing its Mexican counterparts for a thorough investigation into the shooting death of a Canadian citizen.
The Canadian embassy was advised early Friday of the shooting in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, spokesman Rodney Moore said.
Twenty-nine-year-old Bouabal Bounthavorn was shot in the head three times Thursday after he opened the door of his room at the Hotel Riu. Police say they have no motives in the killing.
"The consul general has travelled from Mexico City to San Jos del Cabo to meet with the Mexican authorities responsible for the criminal investigation," Moore said Tuesday.
Police are protecting Bounthavorn's girlfriend, 24-year-old Masha Heikali of Burnaby, B.C., who was shot in the ankle.
Moore said Heikali is receiving consular assistance, but declined further comment, citing the Privacy Act.
State police commander Enrique Wuilar in Cabo San Lucas says a 32-year-old American man who claims to have witnessed the shooting, as well as an argument between Bounthavorn and the shooter, is being held in custody.
Wuilar says investigators are looking for the killer, described as a tall, thin, dark-skinned man.
It's the latest in a string of violent incidents involving Canadians in Mexico in recent years.
A couple from Woodbridge, Ont., were found with their throats slit in February 2006 at a resort near Playa del Carmen, Mexico. No arrests were ever made.
Another Woodbridge man, Adam DePrisco, 19, was killed outside an Acapulco nightclub in January 2007. Family and friends believed he was beaten to death, though a Mexican doctor blamed the death on a hit-and-run driver.
In May, 2007, Jeff Toews of Grande Prairie, Alta, died from injuries after he visited a nightclub in Cancun. Mexican authorities concluded he fell from the second floor of his hotel, but at the time, Toews' family said his head and back injuries came from a severe beating.
