CBO Says Senate Panel Health Plan Would Cut Deficit (Update1)

Oct. 7 (Bloomberg) -- The Congressional Budget Office said health-care legislation being considered by the Senate Finance Committee would cut the U.S. budget deficit, a decision that may clear the way for a vote by the panel.

The measure, an amended version of a proposal put forth by panel Chairman Max Baucus, would reduce the budget deficit by $81 billion over 10 years, according to an analysis released today by the nonpartisan agency. It would also increase the share of the population with health insurance to 94 percent from the current 83 percent, the CBO said.

The analysis, which said the bill would cost $829 billion over 10 years, is critical because President Barack Obama has pledged not to sign legislation that adds to the deficit, and Baucus delayed a panel vote while waiting for the CBO report. A vote will pave the way for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to combine the finance committee measure with one passed by the Senate health panel and schedule a vote by the full chamber.

That doesnt include the 500-plus billion in benefits that would be cut from Medicare. Why doesnt the news report that little tidbit.

Exactly. They think we're a bunch of hayseeds that just fell off the turnip truck. We'll show them in 2010 that hayseeds with a turnip in their mouth and a pencil on the ear can not only count in billions and trillions, we can VOTE.

Throw these bums out of office in 2010 and keep them out.
